In joining us you will actively participate in this breathtaking industrial adventure to shape the future of European mobility.

About this role
  • We are currently looking for a Logistics Process Control Engineer to join our Process Development team based in our gigafactory near Dunkirk, north of France.
  • As such, you lead on the control systems which monitor the Formation process—the final step in the battery manufacturing process.
  • The role will take full ownership of the project from designing the control systems at Verkor’s Gigafactory, validating the design and development of the software, implementation/testing at the Gigafactory, and finally training and technical support.
  • You are embracing the objective of building and structuring Verkor as the most advanced battery manufacturing company in the world.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with external control system vendors during the design review process, ensuring alignment with factory requirements and standards.
  • Work with the control system vendors to define and configure control strategies, including route planning, recipe management, and data collection, to optimize battery production efficiency.
  • Oversee the software development and integration process, ensuring timely and efficient implementation of control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, including hardware and software components, in coordination with the external vendor to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
  • Be on-site at the factory to lead validation and testing activities for the control systems, working closely with the factory teams.
  • Provide comprehensive training to production and maintenance teams on the use and maintenance of control systems to ensure efficient utilization.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including system specifications, operating procedures, and change control records.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of control systems and keep up with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a control system engineer in an industrial setting, preferably in battery manufacturing or a similar process-intensive environment.
  • Proficiency in control system software, including but not limited to Wonderware, Ignition, or Siemens WinCC.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming and configuration, especially with Allen-Bradley or Siemens controllers.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Ability to design, configure, and troubleshoot HMI (Human-Machine Interface) applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for diagnosing and resolving control system issues.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with external control system vendors and cross-functional teams and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certification in SCADA-related technologies or industrial automation is a plus.
