Job summary

American Library in Paris is seeking a part-time Member Services Assistant for a temporary contract. The role covers front desk coverage, member services, and engagement with library users, including helping with accounts and inquiries.

The candidate should have strong English skills and a willingness to work weekends; French language ability is a plus. The position requires European working papers, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and a cooperative, detail-oriented approach in a busy library

Qualifications

• Experience in libraries and/or customer service.
• Strong written and spoken English; French desirable.
• Valid European working papers.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; students considered.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the Library as scheduled.
• Staff the front entrance and desks; respond to queries.
• Create, renew, and revise member accounts in databases; assist with member onboarding.
• Assist with shelving and maintenance of books and displays; gather statistics.
• Assist with training and supervision of volunteers and interns.
