About the Role

Our Technology team builds the systems and experiences that keep Revolut moving. We’re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to keep frameworks lean and focus on what matters: clean, maintainable code shipped fast with TDD, DDD, and continuous integration and delivery. As part of the SSO team, you’ll play a critical role by providing a secure, reliable, and scalable way for users and services to authenticate across the ecosystem.

Our stack includes Java 17/21, GCP, Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, NewRelic, PostgreSQL, Redis, Spock, jOOQ, and Flyway.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing microservices to evolve our architecture
• Perfecting systems that our business depends on, such as risk management, fraud detection, and payment processing
• Focusing on greenfield development and improving existing systems

What You'll Need

• Fluency with Java
• 6+ years of experience in backend development
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, maths, physics, or a similar field
• Being a quick learner with an ambitious, results‑driven personality
• The ability to work well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Fluency in English

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kotlin or Scala
• Experience in finance
• Experience in a startup or scale‑up
• Experience in a product‑focused environment
