Description du poste

At IQGeo, we’re on a mission to build the future of telecommunications and utility networks that enable universal broadband access and support a sustainable, carbon-neutral world. As Lead Platform Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and managing the platform engineering team responsible for building the tooling, infrastructure, and security standards that empower our global engineering teams to deliver innovative geospatial software at scale. If you’re passionate about driving technical excellence, fostering a DevOps culture, and leading a talented team, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact on critical infrastructure worldwide.

As a Lead Platform Engineer at IQGeo, you’ll be the technical & product manager of the platform engineering team. At IQGeo, this team is responsible for:

  • Improving internal tooling that support the whole development life-cycle (building, releasing, monitoring) to enable a “You Build it, you run it“ culture.
  • Improving the underlying infrastructure of our Platform (from network to applicative provisioning) by relying on the infra-as-code principles
  • Being the security reference point and improving security tooling and standards
  • Assisting other teams that might have needs that our tooling cannot yet easily support.
  • Besides leading the platform engineering team, you'll work closely with internal teams to understand their needs as well as evangelizing new ways to doing to maintain a strong team ownership and excellence.

Although this role involves some product management skills, we are first and foremost looking for someone with a technical background first to be able to guide and challenge the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the platform engineering team– You will be the manager of 3 SREs with DevOps / DevSecOps roles.
  • Product management – Even though we like to work with the product trio (see this link) (or duo when there is no designer) methodology, the team won’t have a dedicated product manager yet. We are thus also looking for someone with an appetite for product management to drive feature discoveries. You will be coached by our lead PM if you are interested to.
  • Enabling a DevOps culture while limiting the learning curve for the other teams– We think the DevOps methodology is great as it enables ownership through the development lifecycle. But it also needs to come with trainings, documentation, and, if possible, tools which are as easy to learn for non SRE engineers for it to be successful. You will be responsible for driving that balance that will allow to keep the level of support you need to provide to other teams manageable.
  • Maintaining a high standard regarding security- The data of our clients is critical and we want to maintain high security standards. Meanwhile, integration with large enterprises poses authentication and permissions challenges. The team will be also responsible to handle parts of those topics.

Our Tech Stack:

  • Datadog / Sentry
  • GCP
  • Terraform
  • Kubernetes
  • ArgoCD
  • Argo workflows
  • RedPanda
  • Django / Angular
  • Github Actions / Jenkins

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience (in back-end, SRE or security)
  • Great human qualities and a love for teamwork.
  • Experience in SRE is not required but will be a plus
  • Team management experience is not required but will be a plus, we can provide training
  • Some product Management experience is not required but will be a plus, we can provide training
  • Great oral and written communication in French and English.
