Job summary

Nexamp is seeking a Lead Energy Storage Engineer to act as a technical SME for utility-scale and distributed storage projects. You will guide design reviews, safety analyses, vendor evaluation, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure safe, bankable, and high-performance systems.

The role requires 7+ years in energy storage with 5+ years in storage, strong knowledge of NFPA 855/NEC, and experience with AHJ permitting. This is a hybrid position based in major U.S. hubs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience in energy storage
• Experience with utility-scale or DG energy storage design, reviews and safety analysis
• Knowledge of NFPA 855, NEC, and related codes
• Experience with AHJ engagement and permitting for storage projects

Responsibilities

• Lead technical evaluations and design reviews for energy storage projects
• Serve as internal SME on storage safety, fire protection, and code compliance
• Assess vendor qualifications, review cell chemistry, BMS, PCS, and thermal design
• Validate battery storage architecture, integration, and safety docs from OEMs/ECs
• Provide risk assessments on reliability, degradation, and asset management
• Develop internal engineering standards and processes for energy storage
