Job summary

QIMA is building a new capability for virtual pharmacology models. We seek a Lead Data Scientist to own the programme from inception, assess datasets, develop proofs-of-concept, and prepare models for internal and client use.

You will collaborate with MDs, lab scientists, IT and AI experts across Europe, delivering rigorous validations and scalable pipelines. The role requires deep technical expertise, experience with biological data, and the ability to turn complex datasets into validated

Qualifications

• PhD in data science, biostatistics, bioinformatics, machine learning or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in data science, biostatistics and machine learning.
• Proven track record delivering complex ML projects using biological datasets.
• Experience building data pipelines and data quality assessment.
• Experience translating scientific questions into data and modelling approaches.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess proposals from Business Units.
• Examine data quality, structure, depth and breadth.
• Recommend one or two models with strongest potential.
• Build and manage data pipelines.
• Clean, structure, integrate and analyze complex biological datasets.
• Develop ML models and proofs of concept.
• Define experiments and data requirements with scientists.
• Establish validation criteria for independent validation.
• Ensure reproducibility and proper documentation of code and data.
• Present results to diverse audiences.
• Contribute to documentation and IP protection.
• Initially an individual contributor; may lead a team as program grows.
