Intermountain Health's Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado is seeking an experienced Lab Support Assistant. You will perform patient care oriented laboratory testing, manage specimen processing, and support clinicians and patients.

The role involves advanced specimen processing, phlebotomy, and diverse laboratory testing across multiple sections. You will also train new staff and participate in process improvements within the lab.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous clinical or pathology lab assistant experience.
• ASCP Lab Assistant Certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Uses EMR/LIS to place orders, receive, route, track and label specimens; queries test results.
• Performs waived and moderately complex diagnostic testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Molecular Diagnostics; may perform instrument maintenance and QC.
• Provides clerical, administrative and patient-service support; answers phones and communicates with nursing staff, physicians, couriers and patients; dispatches couriers as needed.
• Communicates procedures empathetically with patients and families and de-escalates stressful situations.
• Monitors and maintains supply inventory; tracks usage and places orders.
• Responsible for training and orientation of new caregivers.
• Assists in schedule management, daily caregiver assignments and shift coverage.
• Leads process improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
