Job Purpose

The Jr Civil Engineer for Cairo Metro Line 3 is responsible for leading and overseeing civil maintenance activities related to railway infrastructure. This includes ensuring the safety, structural integrity, and efficient operation of all facilities and assets, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards. The role requires strong leadership, effective coordination with various teams, and the management of maintenance projects to maintain the operational readiness of the Metro’s civil assets.

Maintenance Activities

• Conduct routine inspections of railway structures, including bridges, tunnels, buildings, and facilities, to assess the current condition and identify any maintenance requirements.
• Supervise and direct routine maintenance tasks for civil and facility assets, ensuring all activities comply with safety regulations and operational standards.
• Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are regularly inspected and maintained in peak condition.
• Review and follow prescribed maintenance schedules, manuals, and procedures to ensure all tasks are completed in alignment with technical specifications.

Repair and Rehabilitation

• Supervise the repair and restoration of damaged assets, such as tiles, walls, doors, drainage systems, etc., using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Respond promptly to emergency repairs, ensuring all malfunctions are addressed efficiently and effectively.
• Perform corrective maintenance by identifying malfunctions quickly and resolving them in a timely manner.
• Assist in the rehabilitation of existing assets, extending their service life and improving overall safety.
• Perform necessary installations, inspections, tests, and ongoing maintenance as required.

Collaboration and Coordination

• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to facilitate their activities and ensure smooth project execution.
• Work closely with maintenance teams, contractors, and external service providers to plan and execute maintenance projects.
• Supervise external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks and ensure adherence to project timelines and safety standards.
• Support the maintenance department's objectives and contribute to the achievement of team goals.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain and validate accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repair works performed.
• Keep detailed daily logs of all maintenance activities.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on the condition of railway structures, including recommendations for future maintenance or necessary upgrades.

Field Surveys and Assessments

• Assist with field surveys and assessments to collect data for engineering studies and project planning.
• Contribute valuable insights regarding existing infrastructure conditions to aid in the implementation of new projects.

Safety

• Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to relevant safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Strictly enforce compliance with 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and lean manufacturing standards.
• Actively monitor and report any environmental or safety issues to the Executive Maintenance team.
• Promote a culture of safety across the team and ensure continuous safety education and training for all team members.

Maximo

• Maintain accurate data and records within the Maximo system to track maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Utilize Maximo to schedule and monitor work orders, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
• Review Maximo reports to evaluate asset performance and prioritize upcoming maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure Maximo's records are accurate and up to date, facilitating effective asset management and decision-making.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Fluency in English (both spoken and written) and Arabic (spoken and written) is required.

Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of civil and plumbing maintenance.
• Proficient in team management and leadership.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of railway infrastructure and operations.

Experience

• From 0-2 years of experience in a maintenance environment or relevant projects.
• Experience in site supervision and managing maintenance activities.
• Demonstrated experience in change management practices.
