The IPVF – Photovoltaic Institute of Île-de-France invites a Master’s level student to join an internship on developing an industrializable electrodeposition technique. You will work on growing thick metal wires (µm scale) and verify homogeneity and roughness, aiming to replace a costly evaporation step.
The project sits within IPVF’s Paris-Saclay activities and multidisciplinary materials chemistry teams. Key tasks include exploring pulsed current deposition, designing a suitable workstation,
Position: Intern (M/F)
Contract: Internship Agreement
Duration: 6 months
Education: Master's degree/engineering school specializing in Chemistry

The Île-de-France Photovoltaic Institute (IPVF), an institute for energy transition, is a scientific and technical hub dedicated to the research and development of solar technologies . Located at its Paris-Saclay site, it brings together its own staff, employees of its partners, and those of external companies. The IPVF aims to become one of the world's leading centers for research, innovation, and training in the field of energy transition.
The IPVF's primary objective is to improve the performance and competitiveness of photovoltaic cells and to develop disruptive technologies by focusing on four key areas:
The internship aims to develop an electrodeposition technique for growing thick metal wires (a few µm) with verification of the homogeneity and roughness of the deposited material. These developments should ultimately replace a material-intensive evaporation step that is poorly suited to industrial use.
In particular, the internship will be able to explore the use of pulsed current deposition, in which the alternation of high and low currents allows for better control of the quality of the deposited material (better uniformity, finer and denser deposit, reduction in the number of defects, etc.).
What we can offer:
The new collaborator will work in a multidisciplinary environment within an IPVF project and will be able to make use of his skills in materials chemistry.
The ideal candidate is an engineering student/Master's student (second year) in solution chemistry with a basic understanding of quality control. Experience in cleanroom manufacturing, including the application of procedures, operating methods, and manufacturing processes, is required. Fluency in English is essential for this internship.
