Job Summary

This role performs work with automation equipment, instruments, electronics, and control functions for the MWA. The position also performs PLC, SCADA, and HMI programming.

Responsibilities
  • Follow safety guidelines as outlined by OSHA
  • Programs computers, SCADA Systems, PLCs, and OITs that control water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plans, lift stations, re-pump stations, and maintain and troubleshoot systems.
  • Fluent and able to develop in Rockwell Software Logix 5, Logix 500, Logix 5000, Studio 5000, and Rockwell visualization software.
  • Fluent and able to develop in Schneider Software Unity, ProWorx, Concept, and Vijeo Designer
  • Be fluent and able to develop in Wonderware Software Intouch
  • Knowledge of how to develop Ethernet networks.
  • Must have knowledge of virtual imaging software. How to build and maintain VMs.
  • Maintain all instrumentation records and calibration data on a software system and programmable calibration tools.
  • Troubleshoot industrial control systems (AC and DC) and make repairs as needed
  • Must be comfortable to work around medium voltages 4160vac and greater.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment that is used in industrial pretreatment programs
  • Maintains SCADA system, programmable logic controllers, alarms, radio systems, software, and hardware.
  • Makes emergency calls and assists Plant Operators when called upon
  • Takes scheduled on-call
  • Maintains instrumental equipment such as flow meters or transmitters
  • The program installs, maintains, and repairs variable frequency drives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested by supervisors.
  • Keep drawings and written documents up to date and redlined to the current system configuration.
  • Effective written and oral communication of issues affecting the electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Supply input and create engineering standards for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and instrumentation assets.
  • Properly document work requirements and improvements thru the AMS (Asset Management System) for effective planning and scheduling of all work. Support the maintenance planners and schedulers to effectively input PM and corrective work packages
  • Create SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for the operations personnel on their critical systems for effective operations.
  • Anticipates typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action.
  • Initiates and completes work orders and requisitions and documents all critical information on a routine basis.
  • Follow standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them immediately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must reside within 30 to 45 minutes of downtown Macon
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in electrical or instrumentation.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Willing to work on both electrical systems and control systems.
  • Experience with small and large horsepower VFD drives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with analyzers, field transmitters, control valves, Field buses, and other communications protocol
  • Knowledge of Cisco Networking Switches is a plus.
  • Able to work without direct supervision and accept leadership roles when required.
  • Valid GA driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Environmental Working Conditions
  • The position requires some exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles.

  • Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic)
  • Occasional exposure to working over water, working at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar, Liquid Lime
