Job summary

Dematic in France participates in the detailed engineering of automated material handling systems. The role focuses on mechanical design, safety reviews, and integration of customer requirements into the approval layout.

As a graduate engineer, you will develop detailed conveyor definitions, prepare installation drawings and BOMs, and support on-site deployment with SAP data handling. English communication and travel up to 5% are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate engineer with Master’s or Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering (materials handling preferred).
• 3–5 years of professional experience; project engineering in intralogistics ideal.
• Strong English, team player, structured, results-oriented, problem-solving.
• AutoCAD knowledge; NX, Teamcenter, Navisworks; SAP knowledge preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 5%.

Responsibilities

• Create approval layout concepts based on customer design freeze.
• Perform safety assessment of project scope (mechanics) and define measures.
• Detail engineering: conveyor system design, drives, speeds, supports.
• Define access areas for service and maintenance of the system.
• Coordinate interfaces with steel construction and building trades.
• Prepare installation drawings and BOMs for Dematic conveyor technology.
• Assist during site installation and supplier FAT.

Job description

• Creation of the approval layout for the customer design freeze
• Safety assessment of the project scope (mechanics) and determination of the necessary measures.
• Creation of detailed concepts based on the sales layout and project requirements and integration into the approval layout
• Material flow review based on the sales layout and the products transported on the conveyor system.
• Clarification of interfaces with other trades such as steel construction, building, etc.
• Definition of access areas for service and maintenance of the system.
• Definition of escape and transport routes
• Definition of the required special designs.
• Ergonomic assessment of the workstations
• Preliminary mockup design of the workstations
• Measurement recording at the customer site (brownfield projects)
• Engineering support in customer meetings during this engineering phase

Detail Engineering:

• Detailed definition of the conveyor technology (drives, conveyor speeds, roller and belt design, lateral guides, supports, suspension, etc.)
• Detailed planning of the required stepovers, maintenance platforms, etc. for maintenance and service.
• Detailed planning of the required safety devices.
• Create technical specifications for purchased components and coordinate the technical details with the supplier.
• Final mockup design of the workstations, including detailed technical and ergonomic coordination with the customer.
• Create bills of materials for ordering Dematic conveyor technology in our production.
• Generate purchase requisitions for purchased components in SAP
• Create data lists for hardware controls planning
• Create installation drawings
• Handover of all information to the installation team.
• Create a system risk assessment and conduct the safety inspection at the customer's site together with CE Compliance.
• Installation support remotely and directly at the customer's site
• Engineering support for supplier FAT

Requirements:

• Graduate engineer / Master's or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (a specialization in materials handling or intralogistics would be advantageous)
• 3-5 years of professional experience (we also welcome graduates)
• Expertise in project engineering (ideally in intralogistics or similar)
• Expertise in mechanical design (ideally in materials handling or similar)
• Good written and spoken English skills
