Job summary

Ampleon is seeking an RF Application Engineer to join the NPI multi-market team. Based in Toulouse, France or Nijmegen, The Netherlands, you will design demos and reference designs and provide design-in support to customers across ISM, Healthcare, Broadcast, Radar, and Mobile Radio.

You will optimize RF power amplifier architectures, including Class-E/EF2 concepts, and work hands-on with GaN on SiC devices, measurement techniques, and customer engagements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering with RF Power & Microwave specialization.
• Significant first experience in RF design.
• Proficiency with RF simulation tools and measurement techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulation and performance measurements of advanced high performing demo boards.
• Define with the customer the key requirements for their specific reference design and evaluate accordingly.
• Technically support our customers to ensure a successful integration of our products in the customer environment, including RF performance, matching architecture, thermal design, reliability and product lifetime.
• Address and solve complex system issues with customers.
• Write Application Notes on specific features and usage of our products.
• Benchmark our products against competing products to determine our competitive edge.
• Propose and define innovative products based on customer interactions to meet market trends.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled and eager to learn RF Application Engineer to join our NPI Multi-Market team. This team of RF Power Application Engineers is located across Smithfield (USA), Nijmegen (The Netherlands), Toulouse (France) and Shanghai (China). Collectively this team designs demos and reference designs complemented by design-in support to customers in the Multi-Market segment. These demos and reference designs target different application areas like ISM, Healthcare, Broadcast, Radar, and Mobile Radio.

The location of the RF Power Application Engineer position can be either Toulouse (France) or Nijmegen (The Netherlands).

This role requires a deep understanding of advanced RF power amplifier architectures, including complex, high‑efficiency topologies such as Class-E/EF2. You will be challenged by optimizing efficiency, linearity, gain, and thermal performance. And you will bring hands‑on experience with key semiconductor technologies such as LDMOs and GaN on SiC.

Key Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities are:

• Design, simulation and performance measurements of advanced high performing demo boards.
• Define with the customer the key requirements for their specific reference design and design and evaluate this reference design accordingly.
• Technically support our customers to ensure a successful integration of our products in the customer environment. Key support to give is on: RF performance, matching architecture, thermal design, reliability and product lifetime.
• Address and solve with the customer their most complex system issues.
• Writing Application Notes on specific features and usage of our products.
• Do detailed benchmarking of our products against competing products to further determine our competitive edge.
• Based on customer interactions propose and define innovative products to meet market trends and maintain our competitiveness
• Actively build and maintain a network of contacts in own and related fields to gain and share knowledge.
• Professional active participation in customer visits at the Ampleon site and at the customer site.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Significant first experience in RF design
• Understanding specifics of all Classes of operation and ability to design them
• RF simulation tools like ADS/MWO and 3D EM simulation
• All regular RF equipment and measurement techniques
• Ability to analyze and propose solutions to highly complex technical problems
• Master’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) with specialization in RF Power & Microwave

Preferred Skills

• Curiousity and Eager to learn and grow in RF/Microwave techniques and Power Amplifier Design,
• Analytical problem solving skills for complex integration challenges,
• Ability to propose solutions and take the initiative to drive for results,
• Strong team player and good communication skills in English (French is a plus but not mandatory!),
• Demonstrating strong teamwork skills in an international environment,
• Ability to set up trust environment and intimacy with Customer.
