Job summary

Harmattan AI, a next-generation defense technology company, seeks a commercially minded Legal Counsel in Paris. You will partner with Sales and business teams, focusing on French-speaking markets, to draft and negotiate complex contracts and advise on regulatory and export-control matters.

Join a fast-moving in-house team across defense, AI, and regulated tech, with governance and international expansion responsibilities in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified attorney or in-house counsel with ~5 years’ experience in law firms and tech/defense environments.
• Native-level French and fluent professional English.
• Strong track record drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Solid grounding in contract and corporate law.
• Genuine interest in defence, dual-use tech, AI or other regulated sectors.
• Comfortable with senior stakeholders and fast-moving, high-stakes work.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain any security clearance as required by law.
• LL.M. from a US or UK institution is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate customer, partner, and defense procurement agreements.
• Advise on export controls, sanctions and trade-compliance matters.
• Support governance, board documentation and statutory filings in French-speaking markets.
• Collaborate with Sales and business teams as a legal business partner.
• Manage disputes and pre-litigation risk assessment.
• Coordinate external local counsel and manage legal spend.
