Job summary

Qluster SAS is seeking a research-focused software lead to develop internal software for continuous-variable measurement-based quantum computing (CV-MBQC) in Paris. You will connect quantum circuit descriptions, photonic models, and experimental constraints, initially focusing on a validated simulation and circuit-mapping stack.

You will define the software architecture with scientists, implement gates and state preparations, and quantify losses and noise effects.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in physics, computer science, applied mathematics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong Python and numerical computing skills with experience developing scientific software.
• Solid understanding of quantum circuits and quantum measurement, with research or development experience in quantum simulation.
• Experience with version control, automated testing, code review and maintainable software design.
• Demonstrated ability to guide technical decisions, break problems into deliverable work and communicate modelling limitations.
• Collaborative working style with clear written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Define software architecture and development priorities with systems architect and experimental scientists; provide technical guidance and review scientific code.
• Develop mappings from circuits to resource states, transformations, and measurement sequences; make encoding assumptions explicit.
• Implement and validate gates, state preparations and measurement models for the architecture, including loss/noise processes.
• Choose numerical representations for Gaussian and non-Gaussian problems; quantify errors and computational costs.
• Build benchmarks, automated tests, documentation and reproducible workflows; compare results with references and data.
• Maintain interfaces between simulation, compilation and hardware models; evolve the stack with research priorities.
