Alumni of Leadership Sarasota is seeking an HVAC Residential Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, inspections, and tune-ups on residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You will ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while delivering exceptional customer service.

The role requires identifying potential concerns and communicating recommendations clearly to homeowners, upholding company standards for quality, professionalism, and safety,

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid driver license (FL) and driving record acceptable.
  • EPA and/or NATE HVAC certifications preferred.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining HVAC systems preferred.
  • Proficiency diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and equipment interface.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical information.
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to work overtime and on-call hours as needed.

Responsabilités

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on residential HVAC systems (air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, IAQ equipment).
  • Inspect coils, motors, capacitors, contactors, drains, filters, thermostats, and electrical connections.
  • Carry out tune-ups, calibrations, and efficiency checks to ensure manufacturer and company standards.
  • Check refrigerant levels and ensure proper airflow and performance.
  • Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers and management.
  • Complete maintenance checklists and service notes accurately.
  • Document system conditions, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Maintain communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Participate in ongoing training and stay current on HVAC technology.

Job Summary

The HVAC Residential Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspections, and tune-ups on residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role focuses on ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while delivering exceptional customer service. The Maintenance Technician is expected to identify potential concerns, communicate recommendations clearly to homeowners, and uphold company standards for quality, professionalism, and safety.

HVAC System Maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on residential HVAC systems, including air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, and indoor air quality equipment.
  • Clean, inspect, and test HVAC components such as coils, motors, capacitors, contactors, drains, filters, thermostats, and electrical connections.
  • Perform system tune-ups, calibrations, and operational efficiency checks.
  • Check refrigerant levels and inspect systems for proper airflow and performance.
  • Identify worn or failing components and communicate repair recommendations to customers and management.
  • Ensure equipment is operating according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
Customer Service
  • Provide a professional, courteous, and positive customer experience at every interaction.
  • Clearly explain system conditions, maintenance findings, and recommended solutions to homeowners.
  • Educate customers on proper system operation, filter changes, maintenance plans, and energy-saving opportunities.
  • Build trust with customers by demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and technical knowledge.
  • Address customer questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
Inspections & System Evaluations
  • Conduct thorough system inspections to identify safety concerns, performance issues, or potential breakdown risks.
  • Document findings and provide detailed notes regarding equipment condition and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities for improved comfort, efficiency, indoor air quality, or system reliability.
  • Communicate potential repair or replacement needs to the appropriate team members.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices at all times.
  • Handle refrigerants and HVAC materials in compliance with EPA regulations and manufacturer requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and responsibly.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Accurately complete maintenance checklists, service records, and job notes.
  • Document system conditions, recommendations, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Maintain accurate communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Track inventory and report low stock or needed materials.
Continual Learning & Improvement
  • Participate in ongoing training, safety meetings, and company development programs.
  • Stay current on residential HVAC technology, maintenance procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to support team success.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Hold a FL driver license and maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Obtain and maintain all required industry certifications
  • Experience repairing and maintaining HVAC systems preferred
  • Relevant HVAC certifications (EPA, NATE, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and equipment interface.
  • Ability to visually differentiate wires by color
  • Excellent coordination, physical fitness, and manual dexterity.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical customers.
  • Positive, self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Dependable and flexible to work overtime and on-call hours as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Physical Requirements

During a 10-hour workday, must be able to:

  • Visually identify wiring by color
  • Ability to safely handle HVAC tools, equipment, refrigerants, and cleaning materials.
  • Lift/carry 15 lbs. frequently, 25 lbs. regularly, 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Stand, kneel, bend, climb, squat, and reach above shoulder for extended periods
  • Use upper extremities for grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine hand manipulations
  • Work outdoors in extreme conditions (heat, cold, etc.) and in tight or confined spaces
Work Environment
  • Field-based position with regular travel to customer locations.
  • Safely navigate uneven surfaces.
  • Occasional after-hours or weekend work as needed for emergency services or testing schedules.
  • Work in confined spaces and at varying heights as required by the job.
  • Work outdoors in extreme conditions (heat, cold, etc.) and in tight or confined spaces when required.
