Job summary

Viridien invites a Master’s student to join the compiler research team in Massy to analyze and document changes in a new compiler generation used in high-performance scientific computing. You will run tests, compare outcomes and make recommendations to support a technology transition.

You will be part of a fifteen-person team, contributing to in-house software for HPC, big data and AI, while collaborating globally.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Master 2 degree in computer science (engineering school or university).
Strong analytical mind and initiative; proactive attitude for research tasks.
Solid foundation in Linux scripting (Bash, C Shell or equivalent).
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, Fortran or Python.
Comfortable communicating in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

Review the current compilation environment.
Get hands-on with the next version of the compiler range and conduct a literature review of major changes.
Select a set of test cases, either synthetic or from production scientific code.
Analyze compilation outputs, compare results and assess performance gains.
Compare optimizations applied by the compiler depending on enabled options.
Present progress to the team throughout the internship.
