The ESRF in Grenoble, France, invites applications for a Scientist in Algorithms and High-Performance Computing (HPC) for Phase-Contrast Imaging. You will reinforce the algorithmic and HPC components of the BM18 beamline, working with beamline and ESRF computing scientists on method development and integration into tomography tools.

The role requires a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, strong algorithmic and computing skills, and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in Physics, Applied Math, CS, Imaging Science or related field.
  • Strong experience in algorithm development and scientific computing.
  • Experience in image processing or inverse problems is desirable.
  • Ability to work at the interface between experiments, data and computation.
  • Proficiency in English (working language at ESRF).

Responsabilités

  • Developing and improving reconstruction and image-processing methods for BM18 tomography.
  • Designing scalable processing workflows for very large datasets and HPC infrastructure.
  • Stabilising, documenting and maintainability of reconstruction tools for routine and high-end use.
  • Collaborating with beamline scientists to align algorithmic developments with user needs.
  • Transferring methods developed at BM18 to other ESRF tomography beamlines.
