Overview

The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for an experienced Head of Urban Food Systems to oversee the development and implementation of an innovative and impactful program of research in support of the “Urban Food Systems” Science Goal of the CIP2030 Strategy.

The position: The Head of Urban Food Systems will lead the development and implementation of an innovative and impactful program of research in support of the ‘Urban Food Systems’ Science Goal of the CIP2030 Strategy. The purpose of the position is to establish urban food systems as an impactful science and innovation area in CIP and CGIAR driven by a future-facing research agenda, designed and delivered jointly with our partners in the Global South. The selected candidate will champion equitable partnerships, ensure excellence of science, lead mobilization of resources, and build a strong research team that promotes young and diverse talent across all of CIP’s regions. This position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will report to the Deputy Director General, Science & Innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with key stakeholder groups and research partners, co-develop and articulate a compelling science and innovation agenda for Urban Food Systems that responds to local and national priorities in participating countries while addressing strategic research questions of global or regional importance.
