About the role
We are now creating a Strategic Finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. Strategic Finance explains papernest's performance and builds the numbers behind its decisions: what the P&L and the cash actually did last month, what the plan says the company can afford next year, and what a given bet is worth before we commit to it. This is a hands‑on and highly exposed role. You build the models yourself, with one Business Controller alongside you, and work directly with the CFO, the executive committee and the business leads: on the monthly review, on the Operating Plan, on profitability deep-dives, and on the financial workstreams of our equity and debt funding.
What you will do
- Monthly performance
- Analyse group performance (P&L and cash) against last year and against budget, and write the commentary for the executive committee and the Board
- Own the full P&L of our platform business end to end, from accrual reviews through to contribution margin and performance analysis
- Review and approve the P&L of our energy, insurance and carbon products before consolidation
- Financial planning and business partnering
- Build and maintain the models forecasting all three financial statements (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) to support decision-making and external funding
- Co‑lead the annual Operating Plan from business‑unit inputs through to arbitration with the founders
- Own the consolidated cash forecast and the financial section of the Board pack
- Lead the business case and financial workstreams in equity and debt funding processes, from the business plan to due diligence
- Partner with business teams on initiatives needing deep financial analysis: profitability deep‑dives by product or market, economic models for partnerships, etc.
- Team and systems
- Manage and develop the Business Controller
- Define the managerial P&L framework with Accounting: analytic structure, business‑line and country cuts
- Drive automation in financial reporting and analysis
Who you are
- A finance professional with 8 or more years of experience, combining a strong FP&A (contrôle de gestion) foundation with advanced financial modelling
- You have worked in a scale‑up or a fast‑paced international group, ideally in B2C services or subscription business models
- You partner with P&L owners rather than reporting to them, and you are comfortable challenging a business team
- You build complex models from underlying business drivers through to financial statements
- You are fluent across all three financial statements: P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
- You are comfortable with AI tools and the Google suite, and you are SQL or BI literate
- You communicate clearly, in writing and in front of an executive audience
- You are fluent in English; working proficiency in French highly appreciated
A big plus
- Experience in corporate development or M&A
- Spanish
- Experience facing lenders or investors: covenant modelling, lender reporting, due diligence
- Experience in a multi‑entity group, with exposure to consolidation
