Waiv is seeking a Lead Data Annotation expert to shape AI-driven pathology as part of a cross-disciplinary team in Paris or remotely. You will define annotation strategies, manage a network of pathologist annotators, and perform hands-on image annotation to translate morphological expertise into actionable model-ready insights.

Qualifications

• MD with board-certified pathology and 5+ years of clinical practice.
• Experience or strong interest in digital/computational pathology.
• Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications (first or last author preferred).
• Comfortable engaging with industry partners and advisory boards.

Shape the science behind AI that is redefining how cancer is diagnosed and treated — as a hands-on expert at the crossroads of pathology and data science.

What You'll Do

Lead Data Annotation

• Define annotation strategies and quality standards in partnership with data scientists
• Manage a network of external pathologist annotators; own quality control and calibration
• Perform hands-on image annotation as needed
• Translate morphological expertise into model-ready insights
• Provide interpretability analysis to ensure model scientific validity
• Support publications, posters, and other external messaging (e.g. webinar) by generating and presenting scientific evidence on our models
• Evaluate new project concepts for clinical feasibility and scientific rigor; help define next R&D development strategy

Engage with Medical Community

• Serve as subject matter expert in pitches and project proposals to pharma companies and other external partners
• Represent the company at key congresses (USCAP, CAP, ASCO, ESMO, and equivalents); engage KOLs and advisory boards as needed

Practical Details

• Fractional commitment: 2 or 3 days/week
• Location: US or France (remote-friendly)
• Travel: Presence in the Paris office at least once per quarter. Company offsite once per year. Attend key oncology/pathology congresses.

Qualifications

Required

• MD; board-certified pathologist with 5+ years post-training clinical practice
• Prior experience with/strong interest in digital or computational pathology
• Track record of peer-reviewed publications (first or last author preferred)
• Comfortable engaging industry partners, KOLs, or advisory boards

Preferred

• Industry experience in diagnostics, pharma/biotech, Medical Affairs, or CRO
• Experience with diagnostic validation for regulatory approval (FDA and/or CE-IVD)
• Clinical trial or evidence program participation
• Membership in CAP, USCAP, or equivalent societies
