Job summary

WSP USA invites motivated undergraduates to join our Earth & Environment team for a Geology – Summer 2027 internship. This 12‑week program provides hands-on experience by working on real projects alongside senior staff, with mentorship through our Developing Professionals Network.

Eligible candidates are undergraduate students in Geology or Environmental Science, with an August 2027 or later graduation, strong communication skills, and a willingness to travel as needed. Housing is not provided.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Geology, Environmental Science, or related undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date Aug 2027 or later.
• 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field, and a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to complete projects.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of environmental tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Geology and/or Environmental Science.
• Assist with project research, field work, data analysis, and reporting.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.

Geology – Summer 2027

WSP USA hosts hundreds of internships across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Through our Developing Professionals Network, interns gain mentorship, networking opportunities and lifelong career connections.
Our Earth & Environment team is seeking a Full-Time Geology – Summer 2027 to work out of our Oakland, CA or Rancho Cordova, CA office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate program.
This will be part of the WSP Summer Program. As a summer , you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 17th, 2027. The individual start date of the may be flexible.

Your Impact

• Support a variety of environmental tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Geology and/or Environmental Science.
• Assist with project research, field work, data analysis, and reporting.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Assist in preparing project drawings and maps.

• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Geology, Environmental Science, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
• 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to complete projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
• Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.

Compensation:

• Expected Salary (all locations): $22.60 - $30.53
