About us

The Electrophysiology and Heart Modelling Institute (Liryc), a University-Hospital Institute based in Bordeaux (France), is a major actor in research, innovation, healthcare and education in the field of cardiac electrophysiology. It is structured as a Scientific Cooperation Foundation, under the aegis of the Bordeaux University Foundation, and was established by ministerial decree on November 25th 2011 within the framework of the “Investments for the Future program”. The founding members of Liryc are the University of Bordeaux, the Bordeaux University Hospital, the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (Inria) and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council.

Liryc is a unique translational research institute devoted to a better understanding and treatment of cardiac electrical diseases. It focuses specifically on atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachyarrhythmias and sudden cardiac death, and heart failure. Its major objectives are to improve our understanding of disease mechanisms and develop novel preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in the fight against cardiac electrical disorders.

Mission

The Director will provide leadership in the research, healthcare, innovation and educational activities of the Institute. Key responsibilities include strategic planning of the Institute’s objectives and ambitions, directing day-to-day operations of the Institute, supervise grant applications and the Institute’s fundraising strategy, oversee management of the Institute including supervising personnel and financial management with the support of an administrative team, enhance the reputation of the Institute through effective communication,work with the Institute’s governance bodies, and act as the main liaison with the Institute’s local,national and international stakeholders.

Job Profile

The Institute is launching an open call to recruit a Director for a full-time. The successful candidate must be a specialized medical doctor, with the candidate’s specialty matching the Institute’s priority area and field of expertise, namely cardiac electrophysiology. The candidate should possess high-level medical and scientific skills. Experience in technological innovation would be an asset. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated track record of leadership and management of ambitious research projects and multi-disciplinary teams, with a proven reputation for effective interpersonal and administrative skills. The candidate must also demonstrate experience in obtaining and managing large research grants, and establishing industrial partnerships.
