Overview

JOB SUMMARY: The Gas Turbine Design Engineer will be responsible for developing complex engineering solutions for gas turbine turbomachinery components that meet aerospace functional and physical requirements. This role requires strong expertise in gas turbine systems and aerospace design, with an emphasis on robust manufacturing, verification, and validation processes. The engineer will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including supply chain, manufacturing, and program leadership, to ensure that all components meet performance, reliability, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities
  • Develop complex engineering solutions for gas turbine turbomachinery components.
  • Create detailed component design definitions (drawings and/or model-based definitions) aligned with system and customer interfaces.
  • Establish dimensional tolerance stacks and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Support manufacturing to ensure production of conforming hardware.
  • Review supplier documentation and assess non-conforming hardware.
  • Review and evaluate supplier change proposals.
  • Develop, approve, and execute validation/verification plans to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing, assembly, service, and aftermarket issues.
  • Conduct failure analysis, root cause, and corrective action (RCCA) processes.
  • Consult on technical variances and process improvements.
  • Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in gas turbine component design or development.
  • Strong background in aerospace design and turbomachinery.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and dimensional tolerance analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing and supply chain teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with competitor organizations in the gas turbine or aerospace industry.
  • Experience with design validation, verification, and compliance processes.
  • Knowledge of advanced CAD tools and model-based definition techniques.
  • Education: Bachelors Degree
