The Role

Job Title: Frontend Software Engineer

Location: Remote / Flexible (we are open to candidates being based in the UK, or in Europe (+/- 3 hours GMT))

Contract Type: Permanent employee or employer of record (depending on location)

Salary: Competitive + bonus

Experience: 4+ years commercial experience as a Software Engineer

What We’re Looking For
  • Strong experience building and maintaining modern web applications in React

  • A product mindset: you care about usability, UX details, and how things feel in the hands of users

  • Solid grasp of software design: modular components, clean abstractions, thoughtful trade-offs

  • Comfort working with TypeScript, component libraries, state management patterns, and RESTful APIs

  • Familiarity with frontend testing practices (unit, integration, end-to-end)

  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach — we work in a remote-first, async-friendly environment

  • Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker-based dev environments

  • A bias toward shipping value, gathering feedback, and improving continuously

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Design and implement polished, performant user interfaces in React

  • Work closely with design and product to shape intuitive, accessible user experiences

  • Build reusable components, design systems, and frontend architecture that scale

  • Write clear, testable, and maintainable code — with long-term quality in mind

  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and shared technical decision-making

  • Own your work beyond the PR: help monitor, improve, and support the features you build

  • Contribute to frontend performance, reliability, and security as our system grows

Our Hiring Process

We aim to keep the process efficient, transparent, and focused on mutual fit.

  • CV Screening

Your application will be reviewed by one of our engineers to assess your technical foundation, relevant experience, and overall alignment with the role.

  • Screening Call

A short conversation to get to know each other better. You’ll learn more about MyEdSpace and how we work, while we’ll explore what motivates you, how you like to collaborate, and whether our ways of working align.

  • Coding Exercise

A take-home coding challenge designed to assess practical engineering skills — architecture, clean code, testing, and problem-solving. Alternatively, it’s your call: you can choose to do a pair programming exercise instead. In that case, it will be merged with the technical interview, and the combined step will take a bit longer.

  • Technical Interview

A deep dive into your engineering approach — exploring past projects, technical decisions, and systems thinking. This session is typically joined by two engineers (or a Tech Lead and the Hiring Manager).

  • Culture & Collaboration Interview

A closing conversation to ensure strong alignment with our values and ways of working.

Our Values

✨ Our values

  • PUT INTEGRITY FIRST Honesty matters. Tell the truth, and be straight-up. Be transparent and do the right thing. This builds respect and reliability for our students, families and team members.

  • KNOW YOUR COORDINATES Understand where you are and where you want to get to. Know your strengths and acknowledge your gaps. Think from first principles. Question things, and never pretend to know what you don\'t.

  • RAISE THE BAR Own it and get it done. Do better. Iterate quickly and seek feedback. Deliver real value. Be excellent and lift others up. Share learnings and help your teammates improve.

  • LOVE TO BE WRONG Push boundaries. Be outside your comfort zone. Naturally you'll get some things wrong and that's okay. Embrace feedback. Learn from it and get closer to excellence.

  • WIN TOGETHER To achieve our mission, we have to work together. We all have a role to play, so help each other get there. We’re stronger as a team so inspire, support and respect each other.
