Human Rights Watch seeks a France Director for the Advocacy Department to lead France-focused advocacy and media engagement before the French government, EU institutions, and multilateral bodies from the Paris office.

The role will shape policy influence, manage the Paris office, and coordinate with global HRW teams to turn research into concrete improvements in human rights in France and beyond. Salary ranges reflect experience and scope.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in IR/journalism/law/social sciences required.
• 10+ years of policy advocacy experience, including at least 4 years of management.
• Experience in international environments with culturally diverse teams and across time zones.

Responsabilités

• Lead France-focused advocacy and media strategies before the French government and EU institutions.
• Promote HRW's work to influence decision-makers and media in France, including policymakers and Parliament.
• Coordinate with HRW Advocacy and Media teams globally to align France and EU-related advocacy.
• Represent HRW in partnerships with NGOs, civil society, and donors to advance advocacy impact in France and the EU.
• Oversee the HRW Paris office, ensure governance, financial controls, and staff development.
• Provide political analysis and guidance on France’s human rights policies to internal divisions.
