Malt, Europe’s leading freelance marketplace, seeks a senior Financial Business Partner for the CTO and CPO to drive financial visibility and decision support across Capex and Opex for software development and infrastructure.

You will manage IFRS-aligned processes, model complex scenarios, and partner with Product and Engineering to optimize spend while upholding rigorous governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master in Finance or Accounting with strong IFRS background.
• Experience in R&D/project controlling and budgeting.
• Proven ability to build complex financial models and challenge assumptions with stakeholders.

Responsabilités

• Lead the annual budget and quarterly rolling forecasts for R&D and IT, including variance analysis.
• Evaluate new R&D phases and IT projects using NPV, IRR, ROI and Payback for Product Committee decisions.
• Partner with engineering leads to optimize headcount/freelancing spend and track R&D intensity metrics.
• Define IAS 38 capitalization policies and track asset lifecycles, coordinating month-end closing and IFRS compliance.
• Audit time-tracking and defend R&D tax credits and capitalization audits.

To act as the primary Financial Business Partner for the CTO and CPO, providing financial visibility, challenging investment assumptions, managing the end-to-end lifecycle of Capital Expenditures (Capex) and operating expenses for software development and infrastructure, ensuring strict application of IFRS framework at Malt.

Key Responsibilities

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budget and quarterly rolling forecasting cycles for the R&D and IT departments, including monthly variance analysis.
• Financial Gatekeeping, Business Partnering & Business Cases:
  • Evaluate, under strict IFRS rules, new R&D phases and IT projects by calculating NPV, IRR, ROI, and Payback Periods to guide Product Committee decisions.
  • Partner with Engineering Leads to optimize headcount/freelancing spend, and track R&D Intensity/Innovation Effectiveness ratios.
• Capex & Capitalization Management:
  • Define and enforce IAS 38 capitalization policies (IFRS guidelines), track hardware/software lifecycles, and coordinate month-end closing with Accounting.
  • Audit the internal time-tracking system to ensure accurate Project ID tagging, defending R&D Tax Credits and Capitalization audits and ensure strict IFRS compliance.
• Tool Ownership: Own and build a dedicated Pigment app

About You

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, specifically focused on R&D and project controlling.
• Accounting Knowledge: Strong IFRS knowledge, practical grasp of IAS 38 (Intangible Assets), and project accounting rules.
• Financial Modeling & Business Partnering: High proficiency in building complex financial models for forecasting, business cases, and scenario analysis (NPV, IRR), combined with excellent interpersonal skills to challenge assumptions collaboratively across technical and product departments.
• Technical Tools: Advanced Excel, dashboarding solutions, and FP&A software (Pigment is a major plus; ERP knowledge advantageous).
• Languages: Fully fluent in both French and English to operate in an international European environment.
• Adaptability: Comfortable managing multiple priorities and milestone-tracking in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment
