Job summary

DECTRIS is expanding its field system engineer team to provide advanced detec tor system support globally. You will diagnose and repair complex software and hardware issues, commission detectors, and develop tools to enhance customer support, while collaborating with R&D and sales. International travel up to 20% is expected.

The role requires strong Python skills, Linux proficiency, and the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences in English, with German or Chinese as a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master or PhD in engineering, computer or natural sciences, or equivalent years of experience in industry.
• Proficiency in Python scripting or programming.
• Comfortable using Linux and shell environments.
• Ability to train customers by breaking down complex systems into understandable concepts.
• Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset with familiarity of hardware.
• Ability to work with tools, lab equipment and real detectors hardware.
• Logical, analytical thinker with problem-solving skills.
• Curious, fast learner who takes initiative and responsibility.
• Reliable team player who can work independently.
• Stress-resistant and adaptable to diverse customer environments.
• Fluent in English; German or Chinese is a plus.
• Driving license (B)

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for detector systems (remote and on-site).
• Analyze, debug, and fix complex software and hardware issues.
• Commission detector systems and provide integration support.
• Perform diagnostics and repairs at DECTRIS and customer sites.
• Develop scripts, tools, and procedures to improve customer support.
• Communicate complex topics clearly to varied audiences.
• Collaborate with R&D, product management, applications and sales.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.
