Tescan is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support SEM systems in the Grenoble area, France. You will install, service, and troubleshoot across hardware and software to keep our customers' instruments performing at their best.

Depending on experience, you will travel within the region, build strong customer relationships, and provide clear technical guidance while documenting actions and outcomes. You will also collaborate with support and sales teams to ensure exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Solid experience servicing SEM systems and related technologies.
• Strong diagnostic/troubleshooting skills across hardware and software.
• Customer-focused approach with clear communication and field independence.

Responsabilités

• Perform installations, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on SEM systems.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, vacuum, and electronic issues with minimal escalation.
• Build strong customer relationships, managing expectations and providing technical guidance.
• Maintain accurate service documentation including failures, actions, and parts usage.
• Identify recurring issues, assess risks, and recommend system improvements.
• Collaborate with Technical Support, Applications, and Sales teams to optimize service.
• Mentor junior field service engineers when needed.

As part of the creation of a new position, we are seeking an FSE for a permanent position. The position is based in the Grenoble area in France.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in keeping TESCAN systems performing at their best. Working independently across your region, you will deliver expert technical service, build trusted customer relationships, and help ensure our customers can focus on their scientific discoveries with confidence.

What You’ll Do

• Perform installations, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on scanning electron microscope (SEM) systems.
• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, vacuum, and electronic issues with minimal need for escalation.
• Build strong customer relationships by communicating clearly, managing expectations, and providing technical guidance throughout service activities.
• Maintain accurate, high-quality service documentation, including reports on failures, corrective actions, and parts usage.
• Identify recurring technical issues, assess potential risks, and recommend opportunities for system improvements.
• Collaborate with Technical Support, Applications, and Sales teams to deliver the best possible customer experience.
• Share your expertise by supporting and mentoring junior field service engineers when needed.

What You’ll Bring

• A technical degree or equivalent hands‑on professional experience.
• Solid experience servicing SEM systems, with additional knowledge of FIB-SEM or micro-CT technologies.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across hardware and software.
• A customer‑focused approach and the ability to explain technical topics clearly.
• Confidence in working independently, making decisions, and managing priorities in the field.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to work closely with cross‑functional teams.
• Curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
• A valid driving licence.
• Proficiency in English and the local language as required.
