Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is seeking an Equipment Operator III – Street Sweeper to operate specialized street sweeping equipment along designated routes and catch basins in Terrebonne Parish. The role includes daily route cleaning, vehicle inspections, fueling, and basic maintenance.

You will use the MGO system for assignments, support events like Mardi Gras, and participate in safety trainings.

Qualifications

  • Valid Louisiana CDL Class B.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience operating heavy equipment or related field.

Responsabilités

  • Conduct daily pre-operation inspections of the street sweeper, including checking oil, coolant, lights, tire pressure, and fluid levels.
  • Load daily assignments into the MGO system and complete scheduled street sweeping routes.
  • Fuel the vehicle, weigh in and dump debris at the transfer station, and wash out the hopper after use.
  • Refill water tanks for sprayer systems and ensure sprayer tips are clean and functioning properly.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the street sweeper, including weekly washing, sweeping out floors, and greasing mechanical components.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and adhere to all departmental safety protocols.
  • Ensure the truck’s inspection sticker is current.
  • Refill DEF tanks, monitor service intervals, and perform basic maintenance such as topping off fluids and changing tires.
  • Replace gutter brooms and perform seasonal maintenance as needed.
  • Operate additional equipment including roll-off trucks, grizzly units, loaders, dump trucks, dozers, skid steers, and grapple trucks when required.
  • Assist with bush hogging, hauling limestone, and other landfill-related tasks.
  • Support special events such as Mardi Gras, Downtown Festival, and Christmas by performing assigned cleanup and operational duties.
  • Participate in quarterly One-on-One meetings with Supervisor.
  • Complete all required annual trainings—including ethics, harassment prevention, diversity, and cybersecurity—in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all duties and responsibilities are performed with integrity, professionalism, and in good faith, consistently upholding and protecting the interests, reputation, and assets of the Parish government.
  • Perform any additional task as required by Supervisor.

Equipment Operator III – Street Sweeper

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government’s Equipment Operator III – Street Sweeper is responsible for operating specialized street sweeper equipment to clean designated streets and catch basins throughout Terrebonne Parish.

In this role, the incumbent is expected to use the street sweeper to clean daily routes, perform vehicle inspections, fuel and maintain equipment, complete assignments through the MGO system, and support various special events and other Solid Waste operations as needed.

Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License Class B.
