Job summary

Energy Jobline ATTB seeks an Environmental Operations Manager to lead the coordination and compliance of environmental programs across the University’s main campus and satellites.

You will manage an environmental operations team, drive permit compliance for storm water, wastewater, air, SPCC and PST, and collaborate with regulatory bodies to represent the University.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or related field.
• 4+ years in environmental health and safety compliance.
• Experience as environmental manager/supervisor.
• Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal communication.
• Class C Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inspections and monitoring to ensure permit compliance for storm water, wastewater, air, SPCC, PST and other programs.
• Direct development and implementation of SPCC and storm water programs.
• Oversee environmental sampling per permit requirements.
• Review and analyze laboratory results and environmental data.
• Provide continuity in absence of the Associate Director for the EHS-Environmental Program.
• Represent the University and EHS in CAF, EAG and IAS regulatory groups.

Job description

Environmental Operations Manager

Manage the coordination and compliance of environmental programs including food and drinking water safety, storm water and wastewater management, spill prevention and response for the University’s main campus and satellite locations. Manage environmental operations staff.

• Manage the environmental operations team.
• Foster a collaborative and ethical team environment through leadership and development of staff.
• Oversee inspections and monitoring of UT properties, facilities, and construction sites to ensure compliance with permit requirements of storm water, wastewater, air, SPCC, Petroleum Storage Tanks(PST) and other environmental programs.
• Directs the development, enhancement, and implementation of programs such as SPCC and storm water for the University.
• Oversees environmental sampling in accordance with permit requirements.
• Reviews and analyzes laboratory results and environmental data.
• In the absence of the Associate Director, oversight of the EHS-Environmental Program.
• Serve as a member of the UT Hazmat response team responding to potentially unsafe conditions such as spills of pollutants and other contaminants, environmental complaints and other problems.
• Serve as the University and EHS representative in each of the following regulatory organizations: Clean Air Force of Central Texas (CAF), UT System Environmental Advisory Group (EAG) and Improving Austin Streams (IAS).
• This position requires a class "C" operator driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Applied or Basic Science, or a closely related field.
• 4+ years of experience in the field of environmental health and safety compliance.
• Proven experience as an environmental manager/supervisor.
• Solid understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Class "C" Operator Driver's License.

Salary Range: $85,000 + depending on qualifications
