Job summary

MLabs is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to own the technical customer journey, guiding clients from discovery to production rollout and adoption. This role emphasizes hands-on AI deployment, architecture design, and close collaboration with product, sales, and engineering leaders.

You will build scalable AI applications using LLMs, APIs, and retrieval architectures while translating customer feedback into product improvements. NYC hybrid/remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer or similar with significant end-to-end customer ownership.
• Experience taking ambiguous client challenges from discovery to production deployment with measurable impact.
• Strong technical and commercial judgment across product features, engineering complexity, cost, and latency.
• Proficiency with Python and/or Rust, React/TypeScript, SQL, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and production observability.
• Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications, including model APIs, context management, tool integration, retrieval architectures, model evaluation, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End AI Deployments: own engagements from discovery through production rollout and adoption.
• Pre-Sales & Solution Architecture: lead technical discovery, design tailored AI solutions, validate opportunities.
• Post-Sales Technical Execution: build and integrate production AI systems in client environments.
• Production AI Systems Engineering: develop scalable AI applications using LLMs, APIs, tool calls, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Product Optimization & Feedback: translate client insights into reusable components and product improvements.
• Proactive Problem Solving: identify opportunities and execute with minimal direction.
