Coats is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain embedded software powering our automotive service equipment. You will own PCB design for electronic control boards and collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to take machines from requirements through production.

The role is hybrid, involving hands-on work on tire changers, wheel balancers, and related equipment with firmware, sensors, and drive integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 4–8 years of embedded software with hardware and PCB design experience.
• Hands‑on hardware-facing experience essential; not a web role.
• C#/NET or C/C++ in embedded or Windows-based machine control.
• Experience with Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Basic electrical design skills and documentation generation.
• Experience with board‑level testing and DFMEA/PFMEA activities.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, debug, and test embedded firmware for automotive service machines.
• Interface software with sensors, motors, and control hardware for real-time behavior.
• Own PCB design for embedded boards: schematic, layout, and documentation.
• Produce fabrication and production drawings to support PCB manufacture.
• Assist BOM generation and collaborate with sourcing on cost and availability.
• Test and troubleshoot on machines and control boards on shop floor and lab.
• Lead board/component testing and participate in design reviews and PFMEA/DFMEA.
• Work with mechanical/manufacturing teams on enclosure fit and connector layout.
• Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and quality standards.
• Support concept through production launch and field support.
