Free Mobile, part of the Iliad group, seeks an Embedded AI / 5G Engineer for Paris to design and optimize physical-layer and fronthaul processing for an O-RAN 7.2x system. You will move from algorithm design and simulation to real-time implementation, integrating with radio units.

You will validate approaches with link-level simulations and real IQ data, using CUDA, DSP and SIMD acceleration, while contributing to CI and Open source like DPDK and Linux.

Formación

• Engineering degree or higher in a related field with strong math skills.
• Strong foundations in linear algebra, probability and DSP.
• Good understanding of OFDM, MIMO, Fourier transforms and channel coding.
• C programming on Linux with attention to memory layout and performance.
• Python with NumPy/SciPy for simulation and data analysis.
• Interest in 5G/LTE physical layer, O-RAN fronthaul, real-time embedded software or AI for signal processing.
• Ability to translate math concepts into efficient code and validate results.

Responsabilidades

• Develop 5G uplink receiver chain: channel estimation, interpolation, MMSE, MIMO detection, LDPC decoding.
• Implement PRACH detection, timing estimation and beamforming for massive MIMO.
• Process O-RAN 7.2x C-plane and U-plane traffic, including eCPRI timing windows and IQ compression.
• Write real-time L1 functions in C on Linux; accelerate kernels with CUDA, DSP or SIMD.
• Build eCPRI datapath with DPDK, using poll-mode I/O and zero-copy buffers.
• Optimize latency, memory usage and cache behavior within a 0.5 ms slot budget.
• Validate with link-level simulations and real IQ captures on O-RAN radios.
• Measure BLER, throughput, latency and CPU/GPU/DSP load; compare AI vs classical methods.
• Explore neural channel estimation and neural receivers when they outperform baselines.
• Contribute to CI/ regression tests; participate in architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with RU, RAN, core and operations teams.
