Job Summary
We are looking for an Electrical Power Laboratory Technician, Second Shift. This position will be based onsite in Tucker GA. Siemens is looking for a Lab Professional, preferably with low/medium voltage products experience to perform standardized electrical tests as directed per UL, CSA, and other certification bodies under the direction of the laboratory team lead. In addition, they will produce accurate and detailed testing documentation describing the performance of various electrical devices including circuit breakers, controls devices, and distribution equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performing standardized electrical testing—including temperature, short circuit, mechanical endurance, electrical endurance, and environmental—in accordance with UL, CSA, and other certification bodies under the direction of the Laboratory Team Lead.
- Selecting, operating, and troubleshooting test equipment/software as required; designing and testing sequences of test programs; creating and updating test instructions and procedures; and documenting the entire testing process with accurate and detailed reports on product performance (e.g., circuit breakers, control devices, distribution equipment).
- Analyzing test sequences for potential improvements and implementing or initiating required corrective measures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Conducting training, cross‑training, and direction of personnel in related job functions as requested by management, ensuring knowledge transfer and alignment to established processes.
- Maintaining and upgrading test equipment, ensuring effective implementation of applicable quality system processes, and upholding a safe and clean work environment.
- Traveling within the United States to perform product testing in external laboratories as needed, and completing other assignments as directed by the Laboratory Team Lead.
Basic Qualifications
- 2‑year AAS degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Engineering field of study.
- 2+ years of experience with usage of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Working knowledge of International Standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEC) when required by test requirements.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- PC skills, including basic programming skills.
- Strong multitasking and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to 30% travel domestically as needed.
- Ability to work day shift while training.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Additional Qualifications
- 3‑5 years of experience in the electrical field.
- Hands‑on experience with LV/MV switchgear, power controls, and/or power distribution.
- Experience with circuit breakers and wiring from residential size (15A) through industrial size (up to 6000A).
- ISO 9001, 17025 documentation requirements.
- LabVIEW programming.
- PLC programming with Simatic and LOGO.
- Experience using thermocouples.
- Salary range: $18.16 – $31.13 hourly with 5% incentive.
