Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Nouvelle-Calédonie region seeks a GARAGE Vehicle/Diesel Mechanic to maintain a safe, efficient fleet and perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on light to heavy vehicles. Starting pay is $24.60 per hour, with increases based on experience, and CDL-A is preferred.

You must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, performing repairs, keeping detailed service records, and complying with EMS and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing, or 4 years' diesel mechanic experience.
• Vocational diploma/associate degree in maintenance (preferred).
• Proficiency in diesel engine diagnostics and software.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance in a productive, safe manner.
• Record time and parts; inform lead on completion and new tasks.
• Diagnose problems and test repairs; assist/train other mechanics.
