Résumé du poste

Infinite Orbits PTE Ltd. in Toulouse seeks a Design Engineer to lead the detailed mechanical design of satellite structures and subsystems, collaborating with the Mechanical Architect and Structural Analysis team to translate requirements into robust, manufacturable hardware and testable assemblies.

You will own concept design through AIT, define mechanical interfaces, produce 3D CAD models (CATIA/SolidWorks), support DFM/DFA, and contribute to design reviews with clear mechanical justification.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-7+ years of experience in mechanical design of aerospace or high-performance systems.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks or similar).
  • Experience designing flight hardware, ideally in satellite or space systems.
  • Strong understanding of structural principles, materials, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of tolerancing, GD&T, and mechanical drawing standards.
  • Ability to work closely with analysis, systems, and manufacturing teams.
  • Nice to Have: Experience with small satellites or spacecraft platforms.

Responsabilités

  • Lead detailed mechanical design of satellite subsystems and structural components.
  • Work closely with the Mechanical Architect to develop spacecraft-level mechanical concepts and architectures.
  • Translate system and structural requirements into manufacturable CAD designs.
  • Design and define mechanical interfaces across subsystems for integration consistency.
  • Produce high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (GD&T, tolerances, material specs).
  • Collaborate with Structural Analysis Engineers to iterate on mass optimization and structural performance.
  • Support design for manufacturing (DFM), assembly (DFA), and integration constraints.
  • Work hands-on with AIT teams during integration, alignment, and mechanical validation.
  • Participate in test setups and support hardware during vibration and structural testing.
  • Drive design improvements based on test results and manufacturing feedback.
  • Contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR) with clear mechanical justification.
  • Ensure configuration control and design documentation consistency across the spacecraft.

Description du poste

Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions

"Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO.

"Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.

About the Role

We are looking for a Design Engineer to lead the detailed mechanical design of satellite structures and subsystems, while contributing to the overall spacecraft integration. You will work closely with the Mechanical Architect and Structural Analysis team to translate system requirements into robust, manufacturable, and testable hardware.

This is a high-ownership role spanning concept design, detailed CAD, interface definition, and support through assembly, integration, and test (AIT) .

Job Description

Work closely with the Mechanical Architect to develop and refine spacecraft-level mechanical concepts and architectures.

Translate system and structural requirements into manufacturable CAD designs.

Design and define mechanical interfaces across subsystems to ensure integration consistency at spacecraft level.

Produce high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (GD&T, tolerances, material specifications).

Collaborate closely with Structural Analysis Engineers to iterate on mass optimization and structural performance.

Support design for manufacturing (DFM), assembly (DFA), and integration constraints.

Work hands-on with AIT teams during integration, alignment, and mechanical validation.

Participate in defining test setups and support hardware during vibration and structural testing.

Drive design improvements based on test results and manufacturing feedback.

Contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR) with clear mechanical justification.

Ensure configuration control and design documentation consistency across the spacecraft.

Requirements

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

3-7+ years of experience in mechanical design of aerospace or high-performance systems.

Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks or similar).

Experience designing flight hardware , ideally in satellite or space systems.

Strong understanding of structural principles, materials, and mechanical interfaces.

Strong knowledge of tolerancing, GD&T, and mechanical drawing standards.

Ability to work closely with analysis, systems, and manufacturing teams.

Nice to Have

Experience with small satellites or spacecraft platforms.

Familiarity with ECSS design and documentation standards.

Experience with deployable mechanisms or precision alignment systems.

Exposure to vibration testing and structural qualification campaigns.

Basic understanding of FEA and structural constraints.

Experience in fast-paced startup or iterative hardware environments.

What we offer

The opportunity to be part of an international team transforming the space industry.
