Job summary

UMA is seeking a Research Scientist / Engineer - Data in Paris to develop methods turning diverse data into better humanoid robot policies. You will explore what data improves learning, when to apply it, and work across on-robot teleoperation, simulation, and real-data sources.

You will collaborate with AI, robotics, and data infrastructure teams to run controlled training experiments, with a focus on validation on humanoid robots and scalable data-driven workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data-centric research, robot learning, computer vision, or multimodal learning.
• Strong Python and PyTorch with hands-on experience implementing research ideas and training models.
• Solid understanding of machine learning, experimental design, baselines and reproducibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop methods to turn diverse data into better humanoid robot policies.
• Investigate what data improves robot learning and when to introduce it during training.
• Collaborate with AI, Robotics and Data Infrastructure teams to turn ideas into reproducible processing and training workflows.
• Run controlled ablations and scaling studies to measure data quantity, quality, and diversity effects.
• Study data mixtures, representations, and supervision signals to improve real-world performance.
• Shape data collection priorities based on evidence of tasks, environments and failures.
• Ensure findings translate into practical decisions about data collection, training, and robot evaluation.
