Job summary

Mistral in France seeks a Data Center Hardware Engineer to maintain and troubleshoot GPU/CPU clusters in our on-site data centers. You will diagnose hardware issues, manage parts, and contribute to scripts for monitoring and automation.

This hands-on role requires meticulous work in a 24/7 environment and travel between sites may be necessary. Applicants should have hands-on hardware experience, basic Linux skills, and a willingness to work in a high-performance computing setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on comfort in data centers or server hardware.
• Disciplined and meticulous; checklists are craftsmanship.
• Practical electrical basics and PPE awareness.
• Basic Linux: boot checks and logs; scripting is a plus.
• Physically able to work in racks; 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Driver's licence (B) for site travel.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose & repair server/hardware issues across CPUs, memory, drives, NICs, GPUs, PSUs and interconnects.
• Intervene safely with power-off, ESD discipline, checklists, and safe work areas.
• Capture data: photos, serials, test results; document tickets for next engineer.
• Manage parts: inventory, RMAs, vendor coordination.
• Contribute small scripts to improve monitoring, checks, inventory or reporting.
• Provide clear status updates and handovers to teammates.
