• Strong customer focus and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional proficiency in English; French is considered an advantage.

We are looking for a Customer Quality Engineer to join Wärtsilä Energy's Special Applications organization. This role is based in our office in Surgères, France.

Special Applications is dedicated to providing lifecycle services for highly strategic and critical equipment. The scope includes the overhaul and reconditioning of emergency engines for selected nuclear power plants worldwide, as well as the engines powering the French Army's Leclerc battle tanks.

In this role, you will serve as the primary customer interface for quality-related matters while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and operational requirements throughout project execution.

Main Responsibilities

Customer Quality Management

• Act as the primary customer interface on all quality-related matters.
• Manage and follow up customer complaints, disputes, and non-conformities.
• Develop and monitor corrective and preventive action plans using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methodologies.
• As a member of contract teams, execute agreed quality responsibilities defined within customer contracts.
• Prepare, maintain, and update customer-specific quality documentation, including quality management plans and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, documentation, and regulatory quality requirements.
• Support customer inspections during engine reconditioning activities and onsite installations.
• Assist the Operational Quality Manager during engine reconditioning and installation projects.
• Coordinate and monitor customer and certification audits within the defined scope.

Customer Quality Development

• Plan and conduct audits together with customer representatives.
• Collect customer feedback and support the deployment of quality tools and quality assurance systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on customer feedback, audit findings, and performance indicators.

Processes and Procedures

• Develop and maintain Special Applications quality procedures and documentation.
• Ensure alignment between customer requirements, applicable regulations, and Wärtsilä internal procedures and work instructions.
• Implement and improve quality systems, processes, tools, and programs within the area of responsibility.

Quality and Safety Culture

• Support the implementation of a strong quality and safety culture across the organization.
• Contribute to the quality assurance of products, solutions, and ways of working.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements and Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines.
• Foster effective cross-functional and cross-unit collaboration within the Special Applications organization.
• Monitor and report quality performance through relevant KPIs and performance metrics.

What We Expect
