Mercor is seeking a Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics Physicist (PhD) for a remote, contract engagement. This role focuses on solving research-level physics problems for AI model evaluation.

You will develop and evaluate physics challenges, provide structured feedback, and collaborate with AI research teams to ensure rigorous model reasoning. 8–10 weeks, 10 hours per week, $80–$110 per hour.

Qualifications

• PhD in gravitation, cosmology, or related field.
• Proven publication record with arXiv IDs or DOIs.
• Proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.

Position: Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics Physicist (PhD)
Type: Contract
Compensation: $80–$110/hour
Location: Remote
Duration: 8 to 10 weeks
Commitment: 10 hours/week

Qualifications

Must-Have

• PhD in gravitation, cosmology, astroparticle physics, or a closely related field.
• Published work on specific phenomena such as torsion, Nieh-Yan, or Chern-Simons terms.
• Verifiable publication record with arXiv IDs or DOIs.
• Proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.
• English at B2 or above, including written reasoning.

Preferred

• Familiarity with an agentic coding extension in VS Code.
