We are seeking an experienced Cobot Integration Engineer to support gigafactory line automation in Billy-Berclau, France. The successful candidate will design, integrate, program and commission collaborative robot cells for high-volume manufacturing, ensuring safe human-robot collaboration, optimised cycle times and reliable production performance. The role covers the full integration lifecycle, from concept development and feasibility studies through to commissioning, production ramp-up and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess manufacturing tasks suitable for collaborative robot (cobot) automation, including machine tending, pick-and-place, screwdriving, inspection and handling of modules and components.
- Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate cycle times, payload requirements, robot reach, line balancing and expected productivity improvements.
- Select and integrate collaborative robots, grippers, end-effectors, machine vision systems and safety sensors based on application requirements.
- Develop robot programs and interface logic to integrate cobots with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), conveyors, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and upstream and downstream equipment.
- Configure industrial communication networks and interfaces, including PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and OPC UA.
- Conduct application-specific risk assessments in accordance with applicable machinery safety regulations and standards, including ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066.
- Configure and validate collaborative safety functions, including speed and separation monitoring and force limiting, and support CE conformity documentation.
- Lead factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning and production start-up activities.
- Troubleshoot robot, PLC, sensor, communication and integration issues to improve system reliability and production throughput.
- Train operators and maintenance technicians in safe operation, fault recovery and routine troubleshooting of collaborative robot cells.
- Monitor equipment uptime, cycle-time performance and recurring stoppages, implementing root cause corrective actions.
- Standardise successful robot cell designs, programming practices and technical documentation for deployment across the production line.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, production and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient automation integration.
