The Clinical Midwife Specialist (CMS) will provide clinical expertise and support to staff working in Maternity Services. S/he will provide leadership in the delivery of specialised services and will ensure the Ultrasound service is part of a dynamic and growing health care facility catering for the health needs of women at all stages during pregnancy and the postnatal period. The CMS will carry out the duties appropriate to an Ultrasonographer in relation to this specialised area and support and supervise staff in training within Scope of Practice of Clinical Midwife Specialist (Obstetric Ultrasound).
The CMS will have responsibility for the management of the Early Pregnancy and Fetal Assessment Unit, working with the other Clinical Midwife Specialists currently in the post therefore sharing the responsibilities and clinical load.
