Job Description
AECOM's Transportation business line is seeking a mid-level Pavement Engineer to join their team in either Chelmsford, MA or Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities
- Perform project and/or task management, including management of staff engineers, schedules and budgets.
- Perform pavement engineering report writing and review.
- Apply management experience to roadways, airfields, and facilities for public or private clients.
- Utilize MicroPAVER and/or other pavement management software.
- Utilize pavement design software: FAARFIELD, PAVEXPRESS, DARWIN and PCASE.
- Utilize AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS.
- Perform pavement design for roadways in accordance with AASHTO, FHWA and Department of Defense design standards.
- Perform airfield pavement design in accordance with FAA and Department of Defense standards.
- Perform Pavement Condition Index surveys in accordance with ASTM standards.
- Manage pavement data collection using Falling Weight Deflectometers (FWD), Video Vans, and High‑Speed Inertial Profilers.
- Perform evaluation of FWD and riding quality data for pavement management or design.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with two years of relevant experience (or demonstrated equivalency of experience or education).
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices; selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Willingness to travel over 50% to perform pavement field work.
- Experience with pavement engineering and design.
- Ability to obtain Department of Defense security clearance.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with focus in Transportation or Pavement Engineering (roadway, parking, airfields).
- Preferably 2 years of work experience in Civil transportation or Pavement Engineering.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of basic data analysis tools such as Excel (including lookups, pivot tables, VBA macros) and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge using AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS.
- Will be required to gain familiarity with pavement engineering standards such as ASTM Standard, AASHTO 93 Design guide, and related pavement engineering software (PAVER, AASHTO '93 Design, FAAFIELD).

Compensation
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $78,619.00 – $90,000.00.
