Role Summary

BayLand is seeking a Civil/Site Design Engineer with 3 to 5 years of engineering experience to support a growing workload in diverse water resource and capital improvement projects. This position focuses on stormwater and sustainable site design and includes tasks such as site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, report and specification preparation, coordination with reviewers, and permit application support.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct site layout, grading, and stormwater management design.
  • Design erosion and sediment control measures.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with climate change resiliency considerations.
  • Prepare reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with reviewers and submit permit applications.
  • Work directly with Project Managers providing primary engineering design, coordination, and review responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate organization, motivation, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with team members and independently complete engineering design tasks with minimal oversight.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related accredited field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Effective oral and written communication with clients, regulators, public officials, and team members.
  • Knowledge of ADA Accessible Design Standards.
  • Knowledge of Maryland Drainage Manual, stormwater management design guidelines, climate change action plan, and erosion and sediment control methods and practices.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with TR‑20, HEC‑RAS, or other H& H modeling software.
  • Field work participation willingness.
Desired Skills
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility to obtain within one year.
  • Survey data collection and processing knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS).
  • Exposure to stream restoration, dredging, and/or shoreline protection projects.
