The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Northern Illinois University anticipates hiring a tenure-track faculty member in chemical education. This nine-month, assistant professor position will establish an externally funded DBER program, teach introductory chemistry, and mentor students while engaging with NIU’s university and community.

ADEI principles guide campus service and teaching practices. Ideal candidates have a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in chemistry or related field.
• Demonstrated research and publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsabilités

• Establish a vigorous externally funded program in discipline-based education research (DBER).
• Teach introductory chemistry (and possibly upper-level courses).
• Mentor student research projects.
• Collaborate with the DBER community on campus.
• Contribute to department, college, and university service.
