IRD Occitanie seeks a postdoctoral researcher in Montpellier to lead chemistry-driven discovery of new antiparasitic agents targeting Trypanosoma cruzi. You will work within UMR Intertryp on an integrated human–animal health approach and contribute to assay development and target identification.

The role requires a PhD with postdoctoral experience, strong Synthesis and SAR expertise, and ability to publish high-quality research. Teleworking is possible part of the week.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemical, biochemical or biomedical sciences with at least two years postdoctoral research experience.
• Experience in chemical synthesis and medicinal chemistry, and in handling cell cultures involving Trypanosoma cruzi.
• Proven ability to write and publish original research articles.
• Experience preparing and submitting scientific research proposals is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Apply chemistry to synthesis of compounds based on SAR studies.
• Maintain host cell cultures and parasite life cycles in a biosafety L3 lab at IRD Montpellier.
• Design and implement biological assays to evaluate anti-T. cruzi compounds.
• Investigate mechanisms of action and relation to pathogenicity during infection.
