A major shipping company is seeking a General Manager for their French Guiana deep-water container terminal. You will oversee terminal operations, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain positive relations with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a Master's degree and extensive experience in operational management, particularly in a terminal environment. Fluency in French is essential, while English proficiency is a plus.

  • At least 10 years’ overall professional experience, including 5 years in a similar position.
  • Fluent in French; English is a plus.

CMA Terminals Holding is a port operator having the lead on CMA Terminals and Terminal Link, both acting as port operators used to develop, design, build and operate terminals worldwide. It originated with a development strategy of providing terminals with a high-quality service for every shipping company, optimizing the financial value and profitability of each terminal and maintaining a diverse customer portfolio.

CMA Terminals owns and operates container terminals and inland asset‑owning logistics businesses globally. We are increasing our portfolio and strengthening our capabilities worldwide.

Your Role

You are in charge of the general management of the French Guiana deep‑water container terminal. Even if most of the activities are terminal related, you are also responsible for the Shipping Agency.

You will evolve in a complex environment, in charge of fulfilling the objectives set by the shareholders while facing a delicate competitive and social context.

What Are You Going To Do?
  • Responsible for the overall management and operational performance of the terminal, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective handling of all port activities in line with the Group’s strategic objectives
  • Also responsible for the management and development of the Shipping Agency even if most of the activities are terminal related
  • Act as the primary operational interface with the Port Authority, public bodies, shipping lines, and logistics partners, ensuring compliance with regulations and smooth coordination across the port ecosystem
  • Play a key role in managing industrial relations, maintaining constructive dialogue with employee representatives and unions to ensure stable and efficient operations
  • Bring a strong operational vision and guarantee optimal service quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction
  • In coordination with Head Office divisions, ensure that the local execution aligns with global operational standards and sustainability goals
  • Directly lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Promote a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement, ensuring that operational targets are met while maintaining staff engagement and development
  • Monitor operational KPIs, manage budgets, and drive performance improvement initiatives. Through your leadership, foster teamwork, innovation, and operational excellence, securing the long‑term competitiveness and reliability of the terminal and shipping agency
Who Are We Looking For?
  • Graduated from a Master II in a Business or Engineering School, with a specialization around industrial activity management
  • At least 10 years’ overall professional experience, including 5 years in a similar position. Preferably in the maritime container terminal sector but it is not mandatory
  • Ability to adapt and feel at ease in any type of context and relationship setting
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills oriented towards performance and results
  • Excellent oral and written communication, with negotiating skills and a sense of relationship necessary for social dialogue and public solicitations. Comfortable communicating in public
  • Fluent in French; English is a plus
