Job summary

Verkor, a French battery innovator based in Grenoble, is seeking a Cathode Material Engineer to lead development of cathode materials for next‑gen Li‑ion cells. You will define material specifications, evaluate active materials, and collaborate with electrode engineers and suppliers.

This role offers hands‑on R&D in our Grenoble Innovation Center, with opportunities to advance scalable processes, work with a multinational team, and contribute to a low‑carbon battery supply for European mobility.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Materials Science.
• Experience in Li-ion cell development.
• Cathode material R&D experience.
• Synthesis and mass-production of Li-ion active materials a plus.
• Experience with Li-rich cathode materials a plus.
• DFMEA, PFMEA, and root-cause analysis.
• APQP and 4M management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of cathode material.
• Specify the cathode material characteristics based on Li-ion cell requirements.
• Support the selection of cathode active material.
• Support the electrode engineer in charge of the cathode electrode formulation.
• Build the supplier network for cathode active material.
• Ensure a survey of new technology for cathode active material.
• Support the technology roadmap.

We now focus on enabling the successful start of production of our Gigafactory in Dunkirk (France). With this facility, our ambition is to ramp-up mass production of low carbon lithium ion batteries to facilitate the decarbonization of European mobility.

We are currently looking for our future Cathode Material Engineer to join our Active Materials and Electrolyte Development Team based in our Innovation Center in Grenoble, France.

In this role, you are responsible for leading the development of cathode material for advanced battery cells.

Main responsibilities :

• To lead the development of cathode material
• To specify the cathode material characteristics based on Li-ion cell requirements
• To support the selection of cathode active material
• To support the electrode engineer in charge of the cathode electrode formulation
• To build the supplier's network for cathode active material
• To ensure a survey of new technology for cathode active material
• To support the technology roadmap

Requirements :

• MSc or PhD in Materials Science
• Experience in Li-ion cell development
• Cathode material research and development
• Experience with the synthesis and mass-production of Li-ion active materials would be a plus
• Experience with Li-rich cathode material would be a plus
• DFMEA, PFMEA, root-cause analysis
• APQP, 4M management
