Job summary

IFP Energies nouvelles - Lyon is offering a PhD internship focused on bifunctional Sn/Al-ZSM-5 catalysts for converting sugars into furanic compounds. The project combines synthesis, characterization, and catalytic testing to understand acid-site balance and pore effects.

You will work with a PhD student and prepare a final report and an oral presentation detailing methodology, results, and conclusions at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

• Master student in chemistry, catalysis, materials science, or physical chemistry.
• Interest in catalysis and green chemistry.
• Second-year master’s degree or final year of engineering program.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize a series of Sn/Al-ZSM-5 catalysts and characterize their composition, structure, textural properties, and acidity.
• Evaluate catalysts for conversion of sugars into furan derivatives using HPLC and NMR.
• Prepare a final report and an oral presentation summarizing methodology and results.
