Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is seeking a Bridge Tender to operate and manage bridge openings for marine traffic, ensuring safe flow of road and waterway movement. You will perform routine inspections, light maintenance, and detailed log entries, while adhering to safety protocols and completing required trainings.

The role requires vigilance, precise record-keeping, and effective communication with supervisors, vessel operators, and motorists.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and follow instructions precisely.
• Capable of rapid decision-making during bridge operations.

Responsabilités

• Operate the bridge by opening and closing upon receiving a signal from marine vessels.
• Ensure safe and orderly movement of vehicular and marine traffic during operation.
• Record each bridge opening/closing in the official bridge log.
• Perform pre-shift safety checks and complete inspection checklists.
• Inspect bridge components and perform minor maintenance.
• Clean and maintain the bridge house and equipment.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and trainings.
• Report accidents to supervisor promptly.
• Train new bridge tenders as needed.
• Assist with maintenance projects and communicate equipment issues.
